Cover charge? why?

I'm from out of town and it was a surprise to pay a cover charge for a small town bar. Not sure why as the bar wasn't worth the charge and the drinks are watered down. And let's not bring up the slow service from the bar. Not going back.

Dated Facility and Poor Service

This used to be a happening place in Lexington. Most disappointing is the drag show and staff. Drag performers are just going thru the motions and their routine and clothing is very dated or repeats again and again. The bar tenders are ok but the rest of the staff are unfriendly. I understand that the new manager is responsible for loosing good drag queens and other employees. The DJ was a disappointment also. Will have to checkout other places.

Used to be AWESOME

Some of the best nights of my life have been at The Bar Complex. But I fear those nights are no more. I visited the bar last weekend. It broke my heart. It was midnite on a Saturday night and there MIGHT have been 40 people there. The bartenders and doormen, who used to be out of their way friendly and always seemed to have a smile, just seemed miserable and mad. The show was slow and the performers just seemed to be going through the motions. NO ONE was dancing upstairs on the dance floor and there was just a few people in the lounge area. This bar used to be the place to go in Lexington. But now, there is more competition and it's really seemed to take its toll on the Lexington gay staple that used to be The Bar Complex. If they want to, again, be the meca that they used to be, they're going to have to step up their game AND QUICK. It was really disheartening to see what my former favorite bar has become The 2-star review is for nostalgia and nothing else.
