Our Glorious Picture-Poem Contest is back for a second year!

We really dig poet Kenneth Patchen and the “picture-poems” he painted over the course of his life, and we want to bring together words and images from local poet-artists and creative dabblers in celebration of National Poetry Month in April. Our Glorious Picture-Poem Contest is back for a second year!
WHAT IT IS:
We really dig poet Kenneth Patchen and the “picture-poems” he painted over the course of his life, and we want to bring together words and images from local poet-artists and creative dabblers in celebration of National Poetry Month in April. We will have a reception and reading on April 27th at 5pm with music and food, and contest winners will receive some cool prizes!
WHAT TO DO:
Create a colorful (or monochromatic!) picture-poem no bigger than 12x18 inches. You can look at Patchen's work for inspiration (find some examples at http://www.concentric.net/~lndb/patchen/patchclr.htm or in his collection The Walking-Away World) or do something entirely different – the only requirements are that the piece unite words and images in an interesting way, and be your own original work (or yours and that of a willing collaborator)! Submit two (2) high-quality COPIES of your picture-poem, NOT the original work, to SQecial Media before 6pm on March 31st. If you live out of town, you can mail your entries to us at this address:
SQecial Media
371 S. Limestone St.
Suite 220
Lexington, KY 40508
WHAT WE WILL DO:
During the month of April, we'll display the picture-poems in our hallway and store for everyone to see. All picture-poems will be entered into our contest for a chance to win a $100 SQecial Media gift certificate and other prizes! Local area judges will select the main winners, but we will also collect ballots from our customers and other picture-poem browsers for additional prizes, so encourage your friends to come check out the show.
BUT EVEN SO (the small print):
You are more than welcome to work in collaboration with another artist or writer! That could be really awesome. If you win a prize, though, it's up to y'all to figure out how to split it. Judges and SQecial Media employees are free to submit work for display, but it will not be entered in the contest. And again, please send COPIES of your work, not the original; these pieces will be displayed in public and may incur damage or wear.
