Disappointing

Was visiting from another city. Is this really as good as it gets in Lex? Bartender was unfriendly. The crowd was really cliquish, low class, and appeared to be a lot of regular, degenerative drunks. Listening to some chick at the end of the bar, drunk & mad at the world, talking about what a rock she is in everyone's life, and everyone is listening to her. In that case, thank you everyone for not speaking to me. Very dark and depressing place. I'm giving it another 10 minutes before I head out.

...

If you think this place is nice and clean I would hate to see your house. This place is old, gross, and enjoy drinking out of the cheapest plastic cups they could find. The old troll needs to sell the place to someone who cares and would take care of it. Instead he likes providing our community with the gross place

Here are some grains of salt, and then a review

Take a couple of the reviews below with big grains of salt: these are fans of another Lexington club who have taken up the latest round of bashing the Bar Complex and the people who go there. It happens every few years whenever new clubs open. Back in the day, it happened with Breezings, Club 141, Liquid and others. Now, it's coming from Soundbar and Pulse's crowd. New places are always so great, so wonderful...until they close, Pulse being the latest casualty. (And anyone who would actually give the Bar Complex a one star is lying to skew the ratings. It's just untrue and the Bar deserves a higher rating. The Bar Complex was nationally recognized by Out magazine as one of the nation's top gay clubs. One star? Give me a break.) So, the Bar Complex. Gigantic. Fantastic dancefloor, lightshow and sound system. The drag show is good for a city this size and has a strong fanbase. The Bar did have occasional light crowds in 2009 and 2010 due to multiple competitors opening...and was slow to respond...but 2011 has seen a strong return in crowds. Fridays can be light, but on Thursdays and Saturdays, the crowds are strong, diverse, entertaining, and most definitely not "ugly." Lovely attitude for the reviewer to have, though.

Drag shows need alot of improvement!

Bathrooms are gross! Men have no problem going into the women's bathrooms. Drag shows are really bad. They should not charge a $5 cover charge. I would not want to see this place with the lights on!

Bar still ok but lost some shine

Bar was the place to be in Lex; however that has changed. The soundbar is the happening place. I wish the owner would get a better DJ (one on halloween kept the place hot). The bathrooms are terrible and smell isn't good. The best is the bar tenders and also the drap show is still good. Needs some upgrades. Best nite is Thursday and Sat nites, otherwise its mostly dead, esp. in winter. Needs some improvements, wish could be like Connections in Louisville, the Bar is big enough to rock with investments.
